Why we focus on loose leash
A loose-leash walk is one of the most valuable things you can give your dog. It builds calm focus, mutual trust, and clear communication between you and your companion. When a dog walks beside you without tension, they learn impulse control, confidence, and how to follow gentle guidance rather than pressure. Physically, it reduces strain on their joints and neck; mentally, it turns each walk into a balanced, shared experience instead of a tug-of-war. A calm, structured walk creates a calmer, more responsive dog — both on the leash and at home
About Kean
Hi, I’m Kean — founder of Still Hound and a lifelong dog enthusiast based in the Bay Area. Before starting Still Hound, I worked as a paramedic, where I was first inspired by the incredible bond between search and rescue dogs and their handlers. That experience sparked my passion for understanding canine behavior and building clear, trusting communication between dogs and people.
Today, I focus on dog walking and real-world socialization while I work toward certification as a professional dog trainer and behaviorist. I’ve had the privilege of training my own border collie, Shelby, to be an attentive, off-leash companion who thrives in busy urban environments and gets along beautifully with people, dogs, and children.
My goal is to help every dog I work with build the same calm confidence and connection — one walk at a time.
