Why are Pack Walks important?

Pack walks are one of the most natural and beneficial activities you can offer your dog. Moving together as a group satisfies a dog’s instinct to travel and socialize within a stable pack structure. It promotes calm, balanced behavior by reinforcing communication, trust, and impulse control. Off-leash pack walks build confidence in shy dogs, provide focus for high-energy dogs, and teach social cues that can’t be learned in isolation. Regular exposure to different dogs, environments, and leadership helps reduce reactivity and anxiety—resulting in a more fulfilled, well-adjusted companion at home.

About Kean

Hi, I’m Kean — founder of Still Hound and a lifelong dog enthusiast based in the Bay Area. Before starting Still Hound, I worked as a paramedic, where I was first inspired by the incredible bond between search and rescue dogs and their handlers. That experience sparked my passion for understanding canine behavior and building clear, trusting communication between dogs and people.

Today, I focus on dog walking and real-world socialization while I work toward certification as a professional dog trainer and behaviorist. I’ve had the privilege of training my own border collie, Shelby, to be an attentive, off-leash companion who thrives in busy urban environments and gets along beautifully with people, dogs, and children.

My goal is to help every dog I work with build the same calm confidence and connection — one walk at a time.
